Tyrophagus putrecentiae (mite) D72
Clinical significance
Tyrophagus putrecentiae belongs to the so-called pantry mites. Their development requires an environment with high humidity (80 - 100%) and high temperature (20 - 25°C), and their main habitat is grain stores, barns, hay and straw. They can cause allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis, asthma, atopic dermatitis and urticaria, and in rural environments allergy to these mites can be more prevalent than to house dust mites. The test involves the determination of IgE specific forTyrophagus putrecentiae in patientsóserum. The assay is used to confirm or exclude type I hypersensitivity to Tyrophagus putrecentiae.
