The alpha lactoglobulin test is an allergy test from the
blood. The test determines the allergen alpha lactoglobulin.
The test involves the determination of IgE antibodies in the blood and is
performed if an allergy to whey protein is suspected
cow's milk. The advantage of the test is that there is no need to discontinue
antihistamines.
Blood allergen testing is also used for
qualification for desensitization of alpha lactoglobulin allergy. Recommended
is also used to diagnose allergenic agents in children younger than
4 years of age.
