Anti-phospholipase A2 receptor antibodies (Anti-PLA2R)
Antibodies against the phospholipase A2 receptor are tested. This is useful in diagnosing primary membranous nephropathy.

- Test description
The phospholipase A2 receptor (Anti-PLA2R) antibody test detects proteins associated with primary glomerulonephritis, especially membranous nephropathy. Their presence aids in the diagnosis and monitoring of this kidney disease.
When to Perform the Test?
This test is considered a serological marker for primary membranous nephropathy. It is useful in distinguishing primary membranous nephropathy from secondary membranous nephropathy. It allows effective monitoring of disease progression and treatment efficacy (typically immunosuppressive therapy) for primary membranous nephropathy.
Diseases
Phospholipase A2 receptor antibodies (Anti-PLA2R) are measured when diagnosing conditions such as primary membranous nephropathy.
Symptoms
The Anti-PLA2R test is conducted after observing symptoms such as increased protein excretion in primary urine (proteinuria), impaired lipid metabolism (hyperlipidemia, lipiduria), hypertension, and, in severe cases, kidney failure.
