- Test description
During the test, antibodies against zinc transporter 8 are measured. This test is performed on prediabetic patients and for the diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes (T1DM) and LADA.
When to perform the test?
This test is performed as a supplementary diagnostic measure for Type 1 diabetes, as these antibodies appear in patients who do not have antibodies such as anti-GAD, anti-IA2, and anti-IAA. Their characteristic presence is also observed in prediabetic patients.
Conditions:
Antibodies against zinc transporter 8 (Anti-ZnT8) are measured in the diagnosis of conditions such as Type 1 diabetes (T1DM) and LADA diabetes.
Symptoms:
The Anti-ZnT8 antibody test is conducted when symptoms such as increased thirst (polydipsia), frequent urination (polyuria), reduced skin elasticity, weakness and drowsiness, a tendency for urinary tract infections, altered consciousness, ketoacidosis, and diabetic coma are observed.
