Sanitary examinations
Sanitary stool tests for Salmonella-Shigella carriage are performed to obtain a certificate for sanitary-epidemiological purposes (formerly an entry in the sanitary-epidemiological booklet).
Salmonella bacteria inhabit the gastrointestinal tract and are excreted in feces. They can cause, among other things:
- gastroenteritis manifested by, among other things, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting,
- typhoid fever,
- red fever (dysentery), manifested by diarrhea and blood and mucus in the stool,
Infection occurs through the oral route as a result of ingestion of contaminated food (e.g., eggs, poultry, dairy products) or water, usually as a result of failure to observe hygiene rules.
Sanitary tests when to perform
Take a carrier test. With a negative result, you will be allowed to work with food and other jobs where there is a possibility of transmitting an infection or infectious disease.
