Waiting Time for Test Results: Up to 5 working days.

Purpose of the Test: Testing using the Real-Time PCR method for the diagnosis of fungal infections; specifically targeting the presence of fungi from the Candida genus.

Species of Fungi Detected in the Test: The test detects the presence of 7 species of fungi from the Candida genus:

When to Perform the Test? The test should be performed if there are concerning symptoms or suspicion of genital fungal infections:

  • In women: Thick, purulent discharge with white or yellowish lumps, pain, irritation, and burning of the vagina and vulva, redness of the vaginal mucous membranes, itching, pain during sexual intercourse, pain during urination.
  • In men: Pain/persistent itching of the penis, swelling and shallow erosions, lumps, and blisters with oozing content with an unpleasant odor, pain during sexual intercourse, frequent urge to urinate, burning during urination.

Benefits of the Test: Early identification of the cause of urogenital infection results in faster further diagnostics and/or appropriate treatment, which can protect the patient from the unpleasant consequences of its development.
