- Test description
Candida albicans is a yeast-like fungus that belongs to the body's intestinal flora of the body and inhabit the digestive system, among others, respiratory, urinary and genitourinary systems, among others. Their main task is to help digestion of sugars. When the body's immune system is lowered, there can be excessive growth of Candida and the development of candidiasis (ringworm, candidiasis) in the affected systems. Often mycosis is associated with the use of antibiotic therapy or oral contraception hormones. In addition, poor diet, alcohol consumption and unhygienic lifestyle, e.g. lack of sleep, exercise, stress can lead to the development of candidiasis. We distinguish infections within the of the body, e.g. chronic cystitis, and on the surface, e.g candidiasis of the skin. The presence of antibodies indicates that there has been a Candida infection.
