- About the Product
The Celiac Disease IgA Panel is a blood test that detects IgA class antibodies, which may indicate celiac disease. It includes antibodies against tissue transglutaminase (tTG IgA) and endomysium (EmA IgA), which are essential for diagnosing this condition.
When to Perform the Test
The test is recommended when the clinical history suggests suspected celiac disease, gluten intolerance, gluten allergy, and for individuals diagnosed with celiac disease to monitor the effects of a gluten-free diet. It is also helpful in cases of herpetic skin lesions (after ruling out HSV-1/2 infection).
Medical Conditions
Celiac disease and Dermatitis Herpetiformis (Duhring's disease).
Symptoms
Symptoms that may indicate celiac disease or Dermatitis Herpetiformis include: vomiting, bloating, constipation, chronic diarrhea, weight loss, abdominal pain, muscle weakness, joint pain, malabsorption leading to iron and vitamin deficiencies (e.g., vitamin D, vitamin B12), neurological issues, and skin changes (urticarial eruptions, nodules, erythema) on the elbows, shoulders, buttocks, as well as the scalp and face.
