Cervical cancer is one of the most frequently diagnosed cancers among Polish women. Unfortunately, it is often detected too late, making effective treatment no longer possible. As a result, many patients lose their battle with the disease. This outcome can be avoided by undergoing preventive screenings, such as the CINtec PLUS Cytology test. In the diagnosis of cervical cancer, this test should be performed as a supplement to liquid-based cytology.

CINtec PLUS is a test designed to detect cellular-level cancerous changes at a very early stage of development. The CINtec Plus test complements liquid-based cytology (LBC). It reveals concerning changes where routine cytological testing may not have provided sufficient information.

Purpose of the Test:
Identification of early cancer biomarkers:

  • p16: A protein produced by the cell in response to infection with high-risk HPV types.
  • Ki-67: A protein associated with excessive and uncontrolled cell proliferation.

Indications for the Test:

  • For patients whose LBC cytology test results were difficult to interpret (unable to provide a definitive diagnosis).
  • For women with normal cytology and a positive HPV test result.

Method:
Screening immunocytochemical test.

Sample Collection:
A smear taken with a special brush from the ectocervix and endocervical canal during a gynecological examination.

NOTE: The sample for this test must be collected by a gynecologist or a midwife.
