For whom?
Classic cytology is recommended for all women of reproductive age, especially those who have started sexual life. Regular examination, usually every 3 years, helps detect possible disease changes at an early stage. It is especially recommended for women over 25 years of age, as well as for those who are at increased risk, e.g. those with a genetic predisposition or who smoke cigarettes.
How to prepare for the examination
In order for the results of the cytological test to be as reliable as possible, it is recommended to avoid intercourse, the use of vaginal pessaries, creams and irrigation for at least 24 hours before the visit. The test is best performed between the 10th and 20th day of the menstrual cycle, avoiding the time immediately after menstruation. It is also important to inform your doctor about the medications you take and any previous infections.
