Dengue is a disease transmitted by mosquitoes of the Aedes genus. It can be completely asymptomatic or present flu-like symptoms such as fever, muscle pain, headaches, or rash. The most severe complications of dengue include hemorrhagic fever and dengue shock syndrome.
Who should get vaccinated against dengue?
The dengue vaccine is recommended for travelers going to:
- Southeast Asian countries such as the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand;
- Latin American and Caribbean countries such as Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico;
- Pacific islands such as Fiji, New Caledonia, and Samoa;
- Certain Sub-Saharan African countries where dengue cases are reported.
Important information
The Qdenga vaccine is administered in two doses, spaced 3 months apart. The vaccination should be started at least 1 month before traveling to a country where dengue occurs to ensure full protection for at least 12 months. The vaccine is administered subcutaneously or intramuscularly. Inform your doctor if you have hypersensitivity to any component of the vaccine.

The purchased vaccination is valid for 90 days from the date of purchase – this applies to the administration of the first dose. You can receive the vaccination at the POLMED Medical Center selected during purchase.
