Respiratory physiotherapy – consultation with a physiotherapist

Schedule a consultation with a qualified physiotherapist to learn how to minimize respiratory issues following illness and to practice proper breathing techniques.

Scope of the consultation

Are you experiencing respiratory complications after a recent illness? Do you have difficulty breathing, or has your doctor recommended respiratory physiotherapy?

Respiratory physiotherapy – consultation with a physiotherapist is conducted by qualified physiotherapists at Medicover Centres. This is a specialist respiratory physiotherapy service for individuals with chronic respiratory conditions (e.g. asthma, COPD) or those recovering from respiratory infections (e.g. pneumonia, bronchitis) experiencing symptoms such as:

  • Difficulty breathing,
  • Increased fatigue,
  • Shortness of breath,
  • General muscle weakness,
  • Joint pain,
  • Persistent tiredness,
  • Need for recuperation,
  • Desire to return to physical activity.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Before your first session, you must purchase a set of specialized devices (Pulmogain/Respiprogram and Pulmolift/Respilift) for breathing exercises at a cost of PLN 59.

Learn more about the devices HERE.

You do not need to purchase the devices again for follow-up sessions, provided that you bring the devices purchased during your initial visit.

It is mandatory to bring your devices to each follow-up session. If you do not have them, you will need to purchase a new set at the reception desk (PLN 59), or the session will be cancelled without reimbursement.

The goal of the consultation is to improve your respiratory function by teaching proper breathing techniques, enhancing lung capacity, increasing the mobility of the chest and diaphragm, and strengthening respiratory muscles.

Consultation time: 30 minutes

During the session, the physiotherapist will:

  • Conduct a detailed interview to learn about the duration and nature of your illness, symptoms, and any coexisting conditions,
  • Define the objectives of the therapy while identifying any contraindications to respiratory physiotherapy,
  • Perform a physical assessment of your breathing pattern, posture, and the mobility of your cervicothoracic spine and upper limbs,
  • Measure your respiratory rate (breaths per minute) and heart rate.

Why is it worth it?

  • Taking care of your health after a respiratory illness may help speed up recovery and reduce the risk of complications.
  • The physiotherapist will develop a personalized set of exercises to alleviate respiratory symptoms.
  • Each exercise will be clearly explained and performed under the guidance of a qualified professional to ensure correct technique.
  • You will also learn how to use the breathing devices (Pulmogain/Respiprogram and Pulmolift/Respilift) both during the session and at home.
  • During the visit, you will receive a customized exercise plan to continue practicing on your own.
