Genotyping of platelet antigensóHPA-1a/b (analysis of c.176T>C variant of ITGB3 gene) - diagnosis of platelet conflict and neonatal thrombocytopenia
Clinical relevance
Jet is a test recommended in pregnant women or those planning pregnancy to assess the likelihood of maternal-fetal conflict in terms of platelet antigensóC of the HPA-1 system. The risk of alloimmune fetal/neonatal thrombocytopenia occurs when the HPA-1a antigen is not present on the platelet surface of the woman. The production of anti-HPA-1a antibodies in such a case can cause serological conflict. As a result, strokeós to the central nervous system, neurological disorders and even fetal/neonatal death can occur.
