A geriatrician specialises in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases in older adults, including the following:
- memory disorders,
- cognitive impairment,
- Parkinson’s disease,
- dementia,
- depression,
- sleep disorders.
People over 65 years of age should visit a geriatrician.
Scope of the consultation with a geriatrician:
- referral for laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging examinations,
- treatment of pain,
- diagnosis of old age diseases,
- interpretation of test results.
You should turn up for the visit no later than 15 minutes before it is scheduled to start.
