Why is it worth to get the dental hygienisation procedure?
Teeth hygienisation is a procedure that supplements your daily home oral care. . Regular (once every year or six months) visit at the dentist’s office to have your teeth cleaned is enough to ensure a healthy smile.
What builds up on your teeth that you are unable to remove during daily brushing? Primarily – teeth tartar as well as bacterial and unaesthetic surface plaque. They can be removed through the scaling and sandblasting procedures.
Accumulated tartar is the main reason for the development of periodontitis. It is a dangerous disease that may even lead to the loss of teeth. Teeth tartar not only causes inflammations, but also facilitates the formation of caries and cavities - all due to the accumulated bacteria. It is sufficient to clean your teeth regularly using professional methods at the dentist's office to reduce the risk of diseases and disorders of teeth, gums and periodontium. The basic procedure in this case is scaling.
Unaesthetic plaque on the surface of teeth tends to be a problem mainly of people who drink coffee or smoke regularly. These habits contribute to the formation of discoloration. The sandblasting procedure allows to remove them, which results in subtly lightened teeth. Sandblasting is complementary to scaling.
Properly performed hygienisation procedures should precede the dental treatment phase. This particular order ensures the highest efficiency and provides satisfactory results.

Teeth scaling – how does it work?
It is a procedure that involves the removal of supragingival tartar from the surface of teeth.
Tartar forms as a result of mineralisation and hardening of bacterial plaque. Frequent brushing and flossing of interdental spaces will minimise its formation, but it is recommended to have your teeth professionally cleaned at the dentist's office at least once every 12 months.
Teeth tartar is removed using special ultrasonic scaler that generates vibrations, which break down tartar deposits. It is also possible to perform this procedure with a manual scaler.
The procedure is painless, but the patients with sensitive teeth can have it performed under anaesthesia.
Teeth sandblasting – how does it work?
Sandblasting involves a mechanical removal of discolouration and plaque. It is a procedure complementary to scaling.
The procedure is performed with the use of a sandblaster, which releases under pressure water containing a special powder that removes plaque.
Sandblasting may be performed under anaesthesia, which eliminates the unpleasant sensation that the procedure may cause.
