About the Product

The Parvovirus B19 (IgG) test detects antibodies indicating a past infection with Parvovirus B19, which can cause infectious erythema (fifth disease), particularly dangerous for pregnant women.

When to Perform the Test

The test is recommended when the patient's clinical presentation suggests a possible infection and for individuals with weakened immunity. In pregnant women, the presence of IgG antibodies (with a negative IgM result) indicates a past infection with the virus, confirming immunity and protection for the fetus.

Medical Conditions

Neonatal anemia, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, transient aplastic crisis, infectious erythema.

Symptoms

Infectious erythema may present with symptoms such as fever, fatigue, headache, muscle pain, nausea, runny nose, rash (ranging from red, spotty on the cheeks to erythematous, maculopapular on the trunk and limbs), and joint inflammation (commonly in the hands, ankles, knees, and wrists).
