- Test description
This test measures antibodies against Pemphigus and Pemphigoid IgG, which is useful in diagnosing IgG pemphigus and linear IgG dermatosis (LABD), blistering diseases of the skin and mucous membranes.
When to Perform the Test?
The test is performed to qualitatively (and semi-quantitatively) measure IgG antibodies specific to desmoglein 1 and desmoglein 3 (pemphigus) as well as BP180/230 antigens of the basement membrane (pemphigoid). In cases of pemphigus and pemphigoid, the presence of antibodies correlates with disease activity.
Diseases
Pemphigus and Pemphigoid IgG antibodies are measured when diagnosing blistering diseases of the skin and mucous membranes.
Symptoms
The Pemphigus and Pemphigoid IgG antibody test is conducted after observing symptoms such as spontaneously rupturing blisters on the skin and mucous membranes (e.g., in the mouth, genital areas, or even on the conjunctiva), weight loss, swallowing difficulties, conjunctival changes, eyelid drooping, urinary difficulties, genital lesions, and laryngological and neurological issues.
