Interleukin 6
Clinical significance
Interleukin 6 - a cytokine produced mainly by monocytes, macrophages, medullary cells, fibroblasts and alkylated Th. Production of IL-6 is induced by Interleukin 1, interferon, TNF-? The major role of IL-6 is to participate in the regulation of the anti-infective response, in the acute phase response and in hematopoiesis. IL-6 stimulates the proliferation and róation of B lymphocytes toward immunoglobulin-releasing cells and also, together with IL-1, activates antigen-recognizing T lymphocytes. IL-6 is also one of the factorsów that increase body temperature.
