The wasp venom test is a blood allergy test. The test
for wasp allergen means the allergen of Vespula vulgaris venom.
The test involves the determination of IgE antibodies in the blood and is
performed when wasp venom allergy is suspected. The advantage of
of the test is that there is no need to discontinue antihistamines
antihistamines. The blood allergen test is used
also to qualify for wasp allergy desensitization.
It is also recommended for the diagnosis of allergenic agents in children
under the age of 4 years.
