Japanese encephalitis is a neurological disease transmitted by mosquitoes. In the vast majority of cases, it is asymptomatic or accompanied by mild, flu-like symptoms such as headaches, muscle aches, or fever. Severe cases of Japanese encephalitis are rare but carry a high risk of complications.
To avoid serious complications and the severe form of the disease, it is advisable to receive the Japanese encephalitis vaccination. The vaccination is administered in a two-dose schedule:
- standard – with a 28-day interval;
- accelerated – two doses with a 7-day interval.
Note! To ensure protection against infection, the second dose of the vaccine should be administered at least one week before the planned trip.
Who should get the Japanese encephalitis vaccine?
The vaccine is recommended for all individuals planning travel to regions where the disease is present, including:
- northeastern Australia;
- Asian countries, such as China, Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Nepal, India, or the Philippines.

The purchased vaccination is valid for 90 days from the date of purchase and applies to the administration of the first dose. You can receive the vaccination at the selected POLMED Medical Center during purchase.
