Creatine kinase (CK) is an enzyme that catalyzes the phosphorylation of
creatine. It is found mainly in skeletal muscle fibers,
cardiomyocytes and in the brain.
Cytoplasmic CK exists in the form of 3 isoenzymes, which are
dimers composed of the M (muscle) and B (brain) subunits:
CK-MM, CK-MB, CK-BB. The parameter complements the diagnosis of fresh myocardial infarction
myocardium.
Increased concentration of CK-MB also occurs in:
- first-diastole ventricular,
- inflammation of the myocardium cardiac muscle,
- acute heart failure heart,
- heart trauma,
- pulmonary embolism,
- drug use cardiotoxic drugs,
