Consultation of a child psychiatrist - diagnosis
A child psychiatrist deals with the diagnosis and treatment of mental illnesses in children and adolescents
The doctor conducts diagnostic visits (up to the first 3 meetings) and follow-up visits. Diagnostic visits last 50 minutes, and follow-up visits last 25 minutes. Apart from a standard visit at the facility, the control visit may take a form of a teleconsultation.
The doctor diagnoses and treats:
- pervasive developmental disorders (autism, Asperger's syndrome)
- attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
- mood disorders
- anxiety disorders
- obsessive-compulsive disorders
- eating disorders
- psychotic disorders.
Both parents (possibly an additional guardian) are asked attend the first visit of a young child. If there is no such possibility, a single parent may attend the consultation alone.
In the case of an older child, it is enough for one parent to be present during the consultation.
A child psychiatrist consults children from birth to 18 years of age.
