- Test description
The Myositis Panel is a set of serological tests designed to detect specific antibodies associated with myopathology, including inflammatory muscle diseases such as polymyositis or scleroderma. This test helps diagnose and differentiate between types of myopathy, enabling early diagnosis and effective treatment.
When to perform the test
The test is recommended when the patient's clinical picture suggests myositis associated with systemic connective tissue diseases, in patients with a known autoimmune disease and to verify doubtful/poor-positive results obtained in a previous test. It is also recommended for monitoring the course of the disease in patients with established treatment.
Disease entities
Polymyositis (PM, polymyositis), dermatomyositis (DM, dermatomyositis), overlap syndrome, scleroderma (systemic/limited).
Symptoms
The above disease entities may be accompanied by symptoms such as increasing muscle weakness, muscle pain, muscle atrophy, problems walking, difficulty speaking and swallowing, skin symptoms, swelling of the eyelids, pain and arthritis.
