- Test description
The subpopulation of lymphocytes is assessed based on the presence of differentiation antigens (CD) characteristic of a specific cell population. The population of NK cells, CD56+, is examined. This test is used in the diagnosis of Lyme disease.
When to Perform the Test?
This test is performed on patients to determine the NK cells (their count), which are considered a nonspecific parameter associated with Borrelia spp. infection and may be useful in evaluating treatment effectiveness. It is assumed that a decrease in NK CD57 cell count is correlated with disease activity.
Associated Conditions
The assessment of the NK cell subpopulation - Lyme disease - is conducted for the diagnosis of conditions such as Lyme disease (borreliosis).
