Comprehensive assessment of posture, walk and feet with custom orthotic insoles

Individual orthotic insoles must be perfectly selected and adapted to the user. At Rehasport, this is achived by a platform with almost three hundred thousand sensors on which a dynamic and static examination is performed. Everything is preceded by a detailed history and physiotherapy examination and tests.

A comprehensive assessment of posture, walk and feet aims to identify the movement pattern and any changes within it that affect the performance of the whole body. The motor pattern assessment consists of static and dynamic parts, which are carried out on a special platform with nearly 300,000 sensors. The examination is preceded by a physiotherapy interview and a physical examination carried out by the physiotherapist on the couch.

A static foot examination allows the distribution of loads on the feet to be analysed and allows postural stability tobe assessed. The dynamic examination, on the other hand, illustrates how the load on the feet develops during movement, providing information on the alignment of other body parts, movement pattern and increased energy expenditure during walk.

Made on the basis of a detailed examination, the orthotic insoles are designed to position the foot properly in the shoe for the correct standing and walking or running position. Thanks to the custom orthotic insoles, the distribution of loads on the sole of the foot is even and excessive pressure points and painful muscle strains are eliminated. Thanks to the faithful 3D mapping of the foot, the insoles are fully fitted and take into account the slightest differences in anatomical structure.

Benefits and scope of examination

The assessment of the movement pattern on the platform takes approximately 35-45 minutes and the comprehensive walk analysis with a report prepared by the physiotherapist takes 2 hours. Based on a compilation of the results of the static foot examination and the assessment of the movement pattern, the physiotherapist gives recommendations for further management, including rehabilitation treatment with the possible use of custom orthotic insoles.

Static, stabilometric and dynamic testing allows orthotic insoles to be made to support rehabilitation, offset or reduce pain, and prevent future injuries related to minor defects and misalignment of the feet during walking or running.

Custom orthotic insoles help for example with:

• transverse and longitudinal flatfoot,
• hallux valgus,
