Antibodies against hepatocyte cytosol type 1 (anti-LC-1) along with antibodies against kidney and liver microsomes (LKM-1) are markers of autoimmune hepatitis type 2 (AIH-2) This is a chronic inflammatory disease of the liver parenchyma, untreated leading to cirrhosis of this organ. The disease most often affects children. Clinical symptoms may initially resemble viral hepatitis or may be non-specific (fatigue, lack of anorexia, ascites, general fatigue, increase in laboratory indices of laboratory indicators of liver damage). Detection of both or one type of antibodies is an indicator of the presence of AIH. Antibodies to anti LC-1 correlate well with biochemical and histopathological activity of the of the inflammatory process.
