Testing the level of IgA, IgG antibodies against Bordetella pertussis in the blood.
.The determination of the level of IgA, IgG antibodies is used in the diagnosis of pertussis. Pertussis, otherwise known as whooping cough, caused by the bacterium Bordatella pertussis, is an infectious disease that takes the form of chronic bronchitis with severe coughing attacks. The level of IgA, IgG antibodies increases in the second week of symptomatic illness.
IgA, IgG antibodies persist for 2-3 months, after which they disappear. Elevated titers of IgA, IgG antibodies are indicative of fresh pertussis infection, only in unvaccinated individuals or in those whoóve received their last dose of pertussis vaccine several years ago or earlier.
P>The level of IgA, IgG antibodies is not as high as that of IgA, IgG antibodies
