Culture of an ocular swab

Eye diseases can have a variety of causes, and their symptoms can sometimes be bothersome and impede daily functioning. One of the diagnostic methods thatóra allows to identify the causative agent of the infection is the culture of an ocular smear.
Sight organ smear culture - what is the test?
Visual organ smear culture is a microbiological test thatóre based on taking a prób sample of biological material (e.g. pus discharge, conjunctival scrapings) from the surface of the eye and placing it on a special culture medium. Under laboratory conditions, the growth of microorganismsóy such as bacteria, fungi or viruses is observed, and their species and antibiotic sensitivity are determined.
When should an ocular swab culture test be performed?
This test is recommended for patients whoóy report symptoms such as:
- Red, bloodshot eyes
- Squamous eyes
- Oedema of the eyelids
- Purulent discharge from the eye
- Ból of the eye
- A burning sensation in the eyes
- Sight disturbances
