Psychologist consultation in English

It is a person with appropriate qualifications and education acknowledged by relevant documents, which are the basis for his/her services – counselling, appointments, psychological assistance, psychological therapies, issuing certificates and opinions.

According to the legal provisions applicable in Poland, to be a psychologist one must complete a uniform master’s degree programme in psychology. Depending on the sector or individual professional interests, psychologists may specialise in the following fields – clinical psychology of children and youth or children and family, forensic, social and educational psychology, as well as neuropsychology.

The consultation appointment is conducted in English.

A psychologist can diagnose and participate in the treatment of the following diseases:

  • depression;
  • neurosis;
  • phobias;
  • treatment of addictions;
  • ADHD;
  • dyslexia, dysorthography and dyscalculia.

A consultation appointment should be attended in the case of first alarming symptoms, such as:

  • persistent low mood;
  • feeling of prolonged sadness;
  • loss of appetite;
  • low libido;
  • troublesome sleeping disorders, including insomnia or increased drowsiness and fatigue;
  • fatigue;
  • apathy;
  • feeling of fear and anxiety.

During the first appointment, the psychologist will ask you about the reason for the patient’s visit as well as ask questions about the patient’s expectations, family relations, social interactions, employment situation, etc. A diagnosis may require more than one or two appointments. Problems related to the human psyche require detailed analysis. Information about some of the issues is given by the patient himself/herself, while s/he is not aware of others. Then, the role of the psychologist is to help the patient to exteriorise such issues. To make a diagnosis, the specialist must be familiar with the patient’s situation, have information about the patient’s past, family, lifestyle, health, addictions, etc.

In some situations, to make a diagnosis, it is necessary to undergo additionally paid diagnostic tests that require separate appointments.

A psychologist does not issue prescriptions or prescribe any medication. Nor is s/he authorised to issue sick notes.

The first appointment with a psychologist is usually the beginning of cooperation and diagnostic process which leads to a specific therapy being offered for the patient.

Patients must arrive not later than 15 minutes before their scheduled appointment.

Services can be performed only in the medical centre indicated during the purchasing procedure.
