Panoramic + cephalometric diagnostic package. A patient must attend the examination with a valid referral and previous test results (if any).
How is the panoramic examination performed?
Panoramic X-ray examination: shows the image of the jaw, mandible, temporomandibular joints and maxillary sinuses. It allows an overall assessment of the oral cavity, shows the image of both hard and soft tissues within it, and detects diseases at early stages.
It is performed with a pantomograph in the standing position. The Frankfurt plane is aligned horizontally relative to the floor, the patient chews into a special teether (or a sponge in the case of edentulous patients) to separate the jaw from the mandible in the image so that the structures do not overlap and allow the correct assessment of the condition of the tooth crowns.
How is the cephalometric examination performed?
Cephalometric X-ray examination: it is a skull examination in lateral or PA view used to assess the patient's occlusion and take the measurements necessary for selecting the dental braces.
It is performed with a cephalostat in a standing position with the Frankfurt plane aligned horizontally relative to the floor. The patient clenches their teeth during the examination, and a special ruler with a scale is placed near the patient's forehead for the orthodontist to make calculations.
Duration of examination: about 20 minutes
