About the Product

The Syphilis Verification Test (FTA-ABS) detects antibodies specific to the bacteria causing syphilis (Treponema pallidum). It is used to confirm syphilis infection, especially after a positive screening test result.

When to Perform the Test

The test is performed to confirm positive reagin reactions (e.g., VDRL) or positive/uncertain results from serological screening tests (ELISA, CMIA). It may also be recommended as a preventive measure for pregnant women.

Medical Conditions

The test can detect both early and late syphilis infection.

Symptoms

Symptoms of syphilis infection include a hard chancre around the genital area, oral or throat mucosa, fever, fatigue, headache and joint pain, skin changes, heart valve abnormalities, headaches, balance issues, vomiting, personality changes, mood disorders, and even psychosis.
