Tyroxine-binding globulin TBG - is the main protein transporting thyroxine in the blood. An increase in TBG levels (e.g., during pregnancy, during the use of oral contraceptives or hormone treatment) in people with a normally functioning thyroid gland can cause an increase in the concentration of total thyroxine (T4) - with normal values of TSH and free thyroid hormones.
