Clinical relevance
The Lymphocyte Transformation Test (LTT) is one of the most reliable and sensitive methods to assess the immune response capacity of active cells of the immune system. The test examines the reactivity of T lymphocytesów after contact with antigens and haptens of different origin. Antigens can be bacterial toxins, metals, plastics, drugs or food ingredients including preservatives. LTT testing of ceramics and cements is useful in the diagnosis of hypersensitivity to components of these materialsów. Included are aluminum, antimony, barium, boron, phosphate cement (Harvard), glass ionomer cement (Ketac-Bond), cerium, chromium, cobalt, silicon, manganese, titanium, vanadium.
