Colorectal and Colon Cancer Screening
The COLOTECT test examines three genetic markers for colorectal cancer:
- SDC2,
- ADHFE1,
- and PPP2R5C.
Using qPCR reaction, the test analyzes the methylation status of these genes, allowing differentiation between cancerous and normal cells. The COLOTECT test enables the early detection of colorectal cancer and the assessment of cancer risk.
Indications for the Test
- Colorectal cancer prevention;
- Fear of colonoscopy or medical contraindications to its performance;
- Positive FOBT test result in individuals unwilling to undergo colonoscopy;
- Inability to perform diagnostics in an outpatient setting;
- Age under 50, not qualifying for preventive colonoscopy;
- Unspecified rectal bleeding (e.g., caused by anticoagulant medication use).
COLOTECT Test - Preparation
The test does not require changes or restrictions in daily diet or medication intake. The only contraindication for the COLOTECT test is diarrhea.
Test Variants
The COLOTECT test is available in two implementation variants:
Variant I:
1. Collecting the sampling kit from the selected POLMED Medical Center during purchase;
2. Patient collects the sample at home;
3. Delivering the sample to POLMED Medical Center;
4. The Medical Center sends the sample to the laboratory;
5. Waiting for results in the selected and indicated format on the form.
Variant II:
1. The patient sends an email to: badaniewdomu@polmed.pl – after agreeing on details, a consultant sends the sampling kit to the patient's home address;
2. Patient collects the sample at home;
3. The patient arranges a courier at their own cost and sends the sample directly to the laboratory at the following address: Novazym Polska S.A., ul. Człuchowska 26, 60-434 Poznań;
4. Waiting for results in the selected and indicated format on the form.
Important! The sample must be stabilized within a maximum of 4 days at room temperature, away from light and heat sources, before being transported to the laboratory. The sample should be shipped Monday – Friday and not before public holidays. If possible, the sample should be sent as soon as possible.
Additional Information
The test package is valid for 90 days from the date of purchase. You can take the tests at the selected POLMED Medical Center during purchase. An appointment is required (Variant I). You can check the addresses and working hours of the collection points at: https://polmed.pl/placowki/.
After purchasing the test package (Variant I), a representative of the selected Medical Center will contact you within 2 business days to arrange a convenient time for collecting the kit and performing the test. Alternatively, after collecting the kit, you can collect the sample at home independently. See how to do it.
After purchasing Variant II, you must contact POLMED via email at badaniewdomu@polmed.pl to arrange the shipping address for the sampling kit with a consultant.
The prices of test packages are already calculated, considering a discount for purchasing the entire set of tests. Therefore, they are not subject to additional discounts available to patients using POLMED medical care under insurance policies and individual or corporate medical packages.
