Clinical Purpose

Tiopental is a drug used for shortóterm general anesthesia, belonging to the barbiturateów group. The size of the dose depends on the individual sensitivity of the patient and the desired depth of anesthesia. The administration of successive doses of the drug makes it accumulate in the body. Thiopental has a blood pressure-lowering effect, reduces myocardial contractility, decreases oxygen consumption and slows metabolism.
