Ultrasound assessment of blood flow in testicular vessels.

The examination is performed to diagnose the following conditions:

• testicular torsion,
• appendix testis torsion,
• inflammation,
• tumor,
• hydrocele.

Ultrasound examination is an imaging method that uses ultrasound waves. The technique is based on the reflection of ultrasound waves from organ structures. Doppler ultrasound, by using the Doppler effect, allows the assessment of blood flow speed and direction in the vessels. Ultrasound waves directed at blood cells flowing through the vessels change their frequency proportionally to the speed of blood flow.
