Breast Ultrasound – Indications, Preparation, and Procedure

Breast ultrasound is a non-invasive diagnostic test that allows for the assessment of breast gland structure and the detection of pathological changes within the breasts and lymph nodes. Breast ultrasound is particularly recommended for women under 40, patients in risk groups (such as those with a family history of breast cancer), those undergoing hormone replacement therapy, or in cases where unnatural changes in the breasts appear. What Does the Examination Look Like?

The examination itself involves applying a special gel to the skin of the breasts and moving the ultrasound probe to obtain a detailed image of the tissues. The entire procedure takes about 15–20 minutes, is painless and safe, even for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
