What is VERACITY?

VERACITY is one of the most modern non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT). It is a next-generation test that can detect fetal chromosomal abnormalities early in pregnancy.

The material used for the test is a sample of the mother's blood. During pregnancy, free fetal DNA enters the woman's bloodstream through the placenta. The VERACITY test involves isolating free fetal DNA from a blood sample taken from the pregnant woman and then analyzing it in detail.

VERACITY may be the first screening test performed during pregnancy.

Who should take the test?

The VERACITY test can be performed by any pregnant woman who wants to gain knowledge about fetal development.

The test is especially recommended for women:

  • after the age of 35 (the risk of certain genetic defects increases then),
  • who have a family history of disorders of the number or structure of chromosomes,
  • who had genetic defects of the fetus in previous pregnancies.

VERACITY is also worth performing if the results of earlier screening tests (such as the PAPP-A test) have shown an increased risk of a genetic defect.

In case of a high-risk result, we provide:

  • a free consultation with a clinical geneticist,
  • a free consultation with a MindHealth psychologist.

Advantages of the VERACITY test

  • Safety - the test requires only a blood sample from the woman, so there is no risk of miscarriage or other complications.
  • Accuracy - the detection rate of the disorders covered by the test is estimated at over 99%.
  • Accessibility - the test can be performed as early as the 10th week of pregnancy in women of all ages.

The effectiveness of the VERACITY test has been confirmed for both singleton and twin pregnancies, as well as pregnancies resulting from in vitro fertilization.

Scope of the survey

The version of the VERACITY test is the most comprehensive scope of the test offered on the market. It allows detection of the following disorders:

Trisomies

(autosomal aneuploidies - disorders of the number of autosomal chromosomes)

  • Down syndrome (trisomy 21)
  • Edwards syndrome (trisomy 18)
  • Patau syndrome (trisomy 13)

Aneuploidies of the sex chromosomes

(abnormalities in the number of X or Y chromosomes)

  • Turner syndrome (monosomy X)
  • Triple X syndrome (trisomy X)
  • Klinefelter syndrome (XXY)
  • Jacobs syndrome (XYY)
  • XXYY syndrome

Microdeletions

(changes in the structure of chromosomes)

  • DiGeorge syndrome (22q11.2)
  • Smith-Magenis syndrome (17p11.2)
  • Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome (4p16.3)
  • 1p36 deletion syndrome

Good to know: Microdeletions occur with the same frequency regardless of the mother's age.

VERACITY testing provides parents with valuable knowledge about fetal development. The genetic disorders that the test detects are associated with serious consequences that affect quality of life. Early detection of these disorders is a chance to adequately prepare for a child's illness.

The test also detects the presence of the Y chromosome, making it possible to determine the sex of the child (at the parents' request).

Why VERACITY?

The VERACITY test is among the most accurate tests for detecting Down syndrome, Edwards syndrome and Patau syndrome. It detects more malformations than traditional first trimester screening, and can be performed as early as the 10th week of pregnancy (earlier than the PAPP-A test and first trimester ultrasound).

How is VERACITY different from traditional screening?
