The examination makes it possible to study the larynx under high magnification in order to precisely assess the anatomy and physiology of the larynx itself and its particular elements (true glottis, vocal folds). It is possible to record the image onto a CD.
This examination is recommended for individuals who work vocally, including speakers, actors, singers, teachers, etc.
Other indications for the examination include:
- repetitive laryngitis;
- diagnostics of pathological lesions in the larynx;
- assessment of the vocal organ.
There are no special contraindications to the examination. However, it is advisable not to undergo this examination during upper respiratory tract as a runny nose and oedema may prevent the precise assessment of the larynx.
It is necessary to have a signed medical prescription for the examination. It is recommended for patients to be on an empty stomach (at least 4h without eating and drinking, prior to the examination) due to potential vomiting.
The examination’s result will be available 2-3 days after the examination.
