Clinical significance
Chlamydia trachomatis - an intracellular bacterium that is the cause of sexually transmitted infections. Chlamydia in women causes infections of the genitourinary tract, most commonly the cervix. 80% of infections can be asymptomatic, if symptomsów appear bleeding after sexual intercourse, ból in the lower abdomen, mucopurulent exudate. In men, 50% of the infection is asymptomatic or there is a mucous or mucopurulent discharge from the urethra, ból in urination. There may be infection of the throat, rectum, as well as complications such as inflammation of organsów within the pelvis, damage to the fallopian tubesów, transmission to the newborn, testicular inflammation, conjunctivitis or sexually acquired reactive arthritisów. The test involves the detection of Chlamydia trachomatis antigen in collected material.
