Magnetic resonance cholangiography of the bile ducts without contrast
Magnetic resonance cholangiography (MRCP) is a non-invasive imaging study that allows assessment of the bile ducts. Through the use of magnetic resonance imaging, detailed anatomical images of these structures are obtained. The examination does not require the use of contrast.

Magnetic resonance cholangiography is used in the diagnosis of diseases of the liver, pancreas and biliary tract. The test is non-invasive and safe.
Indications for the study:
- suspected gallbladder and bile duct stones,
- past biliary tract surgery or preparation for surgery,
- trauma to the biliary tract,
- suspected inflammatory lesions, neoplastic lesions, cysts,
- need to determine the cause of jaundice,
- abdominal pain of unknown cause.
Contraindications to the study:
- implanted electrical devices (defibrillator, pacemaker, neurostimulator, etc.),
- metal bodies in soft tissues or metal fragments in the vicinity of vessels, parenchymal organs, eyeballs.
The test is not recommended for women in the first trimester of pregnancy. Claustrophobia may also be a contraindication to the test.
