Electroencephalography after sleep deprivation (EEG) for children
The examination involves registering the changes in the electrical potential on the surface of the scalp, coming from the activities of the neurons in the cerebral cortex. The examination is performed with the patient in a horizontal position, wearing a special cap with registering electrodes.
Encephalography is used, amongst others:
- When psychomotor development is delayed,
- in problems with concentration and aggression,
- in the diagnosis of ADHD,
- in the diagnostics of epilepsy;
- in determining the causes of sleep disturbances;
- in assessing the condition of brain, e.g. after poisoning with neurotoxic substances, after neurosurgical operations;
- after head injuries;
- in frequent headaches.
