IgA class antibody determination is useful in the diagnosis of Serology of viral diseases caused by enteroviruses, transmitted:
- droplet route,
- by food
- or by direct contact with the sick person
Enteroviruses include:
- poliomyelitis viruses,
- Coxackie group A and B viruses,
- ECHO viruses
- and newly isolated enterovirus species numbered: 68, 69, 70,71
- and the viruses that cause hepatitis A.
Enterovirus infections are common, seasonal and can
progress asymptomatically or take the form of febrile illnesses.
The average incubation time of the virus in the body is 3 to 10 days, and the
the first virus-specific IgA antibodies appear in the blood
blood several days after the onset of symptoms.
