Extended semen analysis

Have and your partner been trying for a baby, but haven't been able to conceive for months? Check if a low sperm count may be to blame. Remember that even very poor sperm quality does not have to be an obstacle to getting pregnant - thanks to modern assisted reproductive technology you can become a father with only 4% of normal sperm cells. In this case, a semen analysis will provide answers.

Semen analysis – what will the results tell you?

The semen analysis checks the number and concentration of sperm cells in the sperm and the percentage of live and motile sperm.

The analysis also checks the following:

• pH,
• appearance,
• volume,
• liquefaction time and viscosity of sperm,
• possible agglutination (clumping) of spermatozoa.

Thanks to the extended semen analysis, you will know what percentage of spermatozoa have structural damage that impairs fertilization and obtaining good quality embryos. If the analysis shows that assisted reproductive technology is recommended, it will be used to plan the most effective path of medical treatment

In order for the sperm test to be reliable, you must abstain from sexual intercourse and alcohol for 3 to 5 days before collecting sperm.

The test itself is simple, painless and non-invasive - after putting the sperm in a sterile container, you forward it to the laboratory for analysis. You will receive the test result after 3-4 business days.

It is extremely important for the treating physician to be aware of all medications taken (including supplements, stimulants, etc.) and illnesses in the three months preceding the semen analysis, as they may affect the interpretation of the result.

1. Select a city and choose the Invimed infertility treatment clinic, where you want to have the test.
2. Add semen analysis to the basket and pay for the order.
3. You will receive confirmation when the test is active to the e-mail address provided in the order.
4. You have 3 months to perform the test.
5. You do not need to schedule the examination. We will call you and set a convenient date for your visit to the Invimed clinic.
6. Please bring ID with you to the appointment.
