A genetic test for couples trying to have a baby - CGT Essential test
The CGT Essential test is the basic variant of genetic testing for couples trying to have a baby. It includes the study and comparative analysis of 19 genes. They are tested for the presence of hidden genetic mutations..
We would like to remind you that you should undergo an initial CGT genetic consultation before buying a test.
What are hidden genetic mutations?
A genetic mutation is a change in the structure or structure of a gene that causes disease and symptom complexes.
Their special type are recessive genetic mutations, which are inactive when they occur only in a single gene of a given chromosome. We are talking then about a hidden genetic mutation because it does not cause any symptoms and does not affect the life or health of the host.
The greatest risk occurs when future parents have the same genetic mutation. In such a situation, the probability of revealing a genetic mutation and, as a result of a genetic disease in a child, increases.
What is the CGT test?
The test is a comparative analysis of the results of both patients. Only the patient's blood samples collected in the laboratory of one of the InviMed clinics are needed to perform the test.
The test results are discussed with a geneticist during an additional genetic consultation, included in the cost of genetic testing.
Who is the CGT test for?
The test of hidden genetic mutations is aimed at all couples trying for a child, regardless of what stage of their efforts they are at:
- couples starting their efforts,
- couples undergoing fertility treatment,
- couples with an indication for in vitro treatment with donor ova (in the case of the InviMed program with genetic matching).
