Clinical significance
HBV - a virus of the Hepadnaviridae family, causing hepatitis B. Infection occurs by the parenteral route, mainly through the blood, sexually or perinatally. The main reservoir of infection is the sick person. The test involves the detection of HBV DNA. It is a qualitative test for the diagnosis of HBV infection in the early phase, before the appearance of HBsAg antigen.
