Helicobacter pylori - the bacterium responsible for diseases of the Gastrointestinal tract, such as peptic ulcer disease of the stomach and duodenum, gastritis. Infection with H. pylori is also a risk factor for gastric cancer. The test used for detecting infection and monitoring treatment is the breath test. Serological tests for the diagnosis of infection with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori include the determination of IgG class antibodies in the serum, while simultaneous determination of IgA class antibodies allows to reduce the number of false-negative results. Tests Serologic tests are indicated in patients with complications of peptic ulcer disease long-term use of proton pump nhibitors or antibiotics.
