Babesia divergens DNA qualitatively
Clinical significance
Babesia divergens belongs to the protozoaów that causes a disease called babesiosis. The vector is ticks. The incubation period of the disease is 1 - 6 weeks after a tick bite. The disease can be asymptomatic, mild or acute. The acute form with symptoms resembles malaria (causes damage to erythrocytesów) - temperature spikes, chills, pain in the head, muscles and jointsów, nausea and vomiting, sometimes personality changes are observed. The disease has an acute course usually in immunocompromised individuals. Dangerous complications are hemolytic anemia and organ failure (liver, kidneys). The fastest and most sensitive method is the detection of Babesia DNA by PCR.
