Consultation / diagnosis of sensory integration (SI)

In terms of SI diagnosis, therapist:

  • conducts an interview and tests
  • makes recognition,
  • qualifies for therapy,
  • gives recommendations for working with the patient at home.

Note: the written opinion is issued at the patient's request and is additionally payable.

Sensory integration therapy is one of the methods used in working with children, in whom delays in acquiring new motor skills and speech development, learning difficulties, decreased level of motor coordination, psychomotor hyperactivity, increased or decreased sensitivity to stimuli or problems with concentration. AI therapy most often takes the form of an attractive game, e.g. swinging in hammocks, balancing, playing with a ball or on a trampoline, recognizing objects only by touch. Thanks to such exercises, the nervous system and the child learns to properly respond to external stimuli and integrate the impressions perceived by various senses. Proper diagnosis and conducting classes by a qualified therapist allow you to improve your child's physical fitness or concentration after just a few months.

Sensory integration therapy is performed mainly in order to obtain an appropriate adaptive response to everyday stimuli. It also helps with social interactions.

Classes may include, inter alia, developing exercises:

  • sense of touch (e.g. playing with dough, kinetic sand, walking with bare feet on various surfaces),
  • sense of balance (e.g. playing with standing on one leg, rolling in a barrel, playing "pancake" - wrapping a blanket and unwinding),
  • proprioceptive sense (e.g. stretching, rolling, jumping on the mat),
  • sense of sight (eg distance guessing, "fishing"),
  • hearing (eg locating where the sound is coming from, repeating the clapping rhythm),
  • smell (e.g. sticking cloves into fruit)
  • bilateral coordination and crossing the center line of the body (e.g. reaching into the right pocket with the left hand),
  • as well as fine motor skills exercises (e.g. fastening buckles).

The key to the success of therapy is systematic work with the child, both during therapeutic classes and at home. The therapy is recommended for children, incl. with sensory integration disorders, with the autism spectrum (autism, Asperger's syndrome), with Down's syndrome, with ADHD, with cerebral palsy, the blind, with hearing impairment.

Sensory Integration is part of every child's development and learning. It is a process in which the nervous system processes, interprets and reacts to stimuli reaching the brain from the sensory organs - it integrates sensory stimuli with action.

Sensory information is perceived by the following senses: sight, hearing and balance, touch, taste and smell, proprioception (kinesthetic sense, deep feeling related to awareness and orientation of body parts) and by interoreceptors located in the walls of internal organs and vessels blood vessels, are responsible for the so-called visceral sensation.

Sensory integration is important in all the activities we have to do on a daily basis, such as dressing, eating, getting around, socializing, studying and working.
