Within the scope of consultation, the oncologist:

conducts an oncological interview and physical examination
makes diagnoses
gives medical recommendations
prescribes medications
issues referrals for tests, consultations and hospitalizations
issues sick leaves.
During the visit, the doctor may perform a rectal examination.
